PRESS RELEASE

ISIT introduces a SIL3 Certifiable CANopen Safety Stack, the only solution of this type on the market.

Toulouse : ISIT introduces under reference ISIT_COSAFE_LC a certifiable CANopen Stack, the only COTS product on the market, thus facilitating the certification of a product using the CANopen protocol.

The CAN bus, initiated by Bosch in 1991 and standardized in 1993 (ISO 11898), has experienced uninterrupted growth since its inception, well beyond the scope of the automotive. It has proven by its robustness, reliability, simplicity and the low cost associated with its implementation that it was the ideal protocol for real-time network control, alongside Ethernet dedicated to applications requiring a larger bandwidth for the data. In 2016, 1.5 billion CAN nodes were deployed (source CiA). The CANopen application layer provides flexible and powerful mechanisms for configuring, diagnosing and monitoring the network, with the definition of profiles making it possible to design interoperable products. The design of a system is greatly simplified.

Due to its standardization, robustness and performance, the CANopen protocol is a relevant choice for many applications that need to communicate with each other onboard equipment. As a result, a growing number of critical applications, for which safety is a major issue, need to meet stringent standards and must be certified by an independent body. In the absence of "COTS" products, the designers have to define their own subset of the protocol, to ensure the coding then the certification, process which generates very significant costs, important delays (development, test, certification ...) and requires a very strong expertise, both in terms of protocol and certified development.

ISIT_COSAFE_LC, ISIT's Certified Safety Certifiable CANopen stack meets the needs of these applications and makes it possible to leverage the benefits of the CANopen protocol while benefiting from the elements required for the certification of the final product by an approved organization: documentary set, production plans, unit and integration tests, test reports. Thus, the stack ISIT_COSAFE_LC brings a very important time saving on the whole project, an insurance concerning the certification of the protocol layer, and thus a significant economy for this type of project.

Delivered as source code C, independent of the CPU / OS platform, ISIT_COSAFE_LC can also work without an operating system (NullOS).

On request, ISIT can port the stack in your system and perform the necessary test sets to approach the certification process with confidence.
